Deadspin shows us how journalism should be done

I spent 13 years in newsrooms. I made mistakes I still lose sleep over and did a ton of things I’m still proud of,  one more so than some stories I wrote about mental health issues.

After spending time on those stories, I came to the realization that one thing journalists have been dropping the ball on is a particular aspect of mental health coverage.  Any time a newspaper, website or TV station covers a suicide or mental health matter, it should include this nugget on the bottom.

I don’t think this is the first time Deadspin has done this. Bravo to the staff there.
