I decided to try reading George R.R. Martin’s “A Game of Thrones.” I’d previously tried to read one of his other novels and put it down. It was dreck.
It’s clear the man has a brilliant imagination. He comes up with great characters. He invents great plots.
Then you get this.
That’s not just sophomoric, it’s the laziest of writing.
The real problem is that it comes close to ruining a great scene.
