The face of prideful American ignorance

We’ve all seen the photo of the entitled pettifogger smirking at the Native American Veteran Nathan Phillips.

It looked familiar to me. That face of prideful American ignorance. It’s the worst of us.

We’ve seen it too often recently.

We most recently saw it in Charlottesville:

But it’s far from a new face. You can find it in the crowd of malcontents following Elizabeth Eckford in Little Rock.

Those girls felt proud that day. I bet none of them have ever pointed themselves out on that photo to their grandkids.
