I know, I know! The decade doesn’t really end for another year. But culturally, we’re stupid and end it now.
So here are my picks for the best movies of the decade. Now, I haven’t seen as many movies in recent years because of having three kids. And I’m not going to lie: part of my New Year’s Resolution is to see: “La La Land,” “Birdman,” “Once Upon a Time in Holywood,” and “Brooklyn.” Also, I think it’s absolute crap that Hollywood all but ignores popular films. Yes, some popular films are trash. But some popular flicks have interesting ways of telling stories. Hell, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has some interesting storytelling techniques. Old fogies like Martin Scorcese can pound sand about tentpole films. Rain Johnson, Ava DuVernay and Taika Waititi are fresh, fun and gripping storytellers. Each has done a blockbuster.
